The MP for Skeena Bulkley Valley says it is a sad day for Canada.
Nathan Cullen was in a weekly caucus meeting when a gunman entered the parliament building.
“Just coincidentally, I was leaving the room to do an interview and I went to the door, I heard a lot of loud banging, almost like garbage can lids being banged together very loudly, repeatedly,” he says. “Just as I was opening the door, a security guard gave me a look like this wasn’t a protest or something so we shut the doors and locked it.”
Cullen has been in lock-down since the shootings occurred with no word of when he can go home yet.
He says his heart goes out to the family of the young soldier that was killed earlier today.
