The entire council in the Village of Hazelton has been acclaimed.
Mayor Alice Maitland has served for 38 years and only been through one election during that time.
She isn’t sure if it’s because people like her or just that no one else wants the job.
“If you just do the job, you hardly go wrong,” she says. “And if you have a good staff, that is what probably gets us through. I think that is what people vote for, especially in small communities, they vote for management.”
Maitland says the council will look at cleaning up some by-laws this term.
