There is talk of getting rid of the re-use shed at the transfer station between Smithers and Telkwa.
At the last board meeting of the regional district of Bulkley Nechako, a motion was brought forward to close all of them at every landfill in the district.
A staff report stated that the sheds have become a mess and hard to deal with for the employees at the stations.
Electoral Area A Director Stoney Stoltenberg says everything that goes into the sheds could go somewhere else.
“There is the New to You, there is the Salvation Army, there’s the recycle depot for electronics and corded appliances, you know — everything,” he says. “So it isn’t like everything would just go into the trash.”
It was decided at the meeting to postpone the decision until residents could be consulted.
