Lakes District Secondary Students will be out collecting non-perishable food items tomorrow evening.
Teacher Patti Dube says the Scare Away Hunger food drive is becoming an annual event.
“Students voice/interact club at Lakes District Secondary has been working with Free the Children for the past four or five years and our local rotary club,” she says. “What they’ve decided to do is do a local food drive instead of trick or treating they are going around collecting non-perishable food items.”
Students will be knocking on doors in Burns Lake from 5-8 pm looking for food or cash.
Last year, more than 700 items were donated to the local food bank.
The group is hoping to bring in more than a 1000 this year.
