Full house at Telkwa debate

Telkwa council hopefuls had a chance to debate last night.
There are seven people looking for one of four council seats, including three incumbent councillors.
Rick Fuerst says he wants to continue to give back.
“I feel I bring some experience and knowledge now that I have two terms under my belt,” he says. “I hope that equates to things being better in Telkwa, on all levels.”
Brad Layton says he has unfinished business.
“Three years ago, I decided that when my daughter moved out and got married that I needed to get more involved in my community,” he says. “One of the reasons back then, was my daughter grew up in Telkwa and we always had to go to Smithers for recreation, I wanted more recreation here and I haven’t finished that so I want to continue on.”
John McDivitt says he’s running again for the love of the village.
“I think I can make a difference,” he says “And I love my town. I think as a group we were finally gelling towards the end.”
The other four people running are Leroy Dekens, Carman Graf, Annette Morgan and Coralee Karrer.
There are also three people running for mayor.
