School District 91 looking for bus drivers

The Nechako Lakes School District is dealing with a lack of school bus drivers.
Director of Instruction Manu Madhok says one route had to be cancelled twice last week due to the shortage.
“In Burns Lake particularly, because we don’t have a pool of back up drivers so if someone gets sick or a life circumstance happens, we don’t have a replacement so we have to cancel a route for a day or two,” he says.
He adds they are having a hard time attracting drivers because there are many other work opportunities in the north right now.
The district can help those interested in becoming a bus driver to get the right license and anyone with questions can contact School District 91.
