Election coming up quickly

Building a strong local economy seems to be at the forefront of the election in Smithers.
Most town councillor candidates have stated its something they are campaigning on.
Shelley Browne says it is one of the reasons she is running.
“I think what is really important and what has to be the framework for all council decisions is value for tax dollars,” she says. “And what I mean by that we have to operate within budget while balancing priorities.”

And Greg Brown, no relation, agrees.
“A strong economy is one of the most important things,” he says. “Safe and secure community for families to grow up and providing healthy choices for residents are also important things.”
John Tunnell says, if elected, he will fight for more financial investment.
In total, there are 9 candidates running for one of 6 spots.
The election will be held on November 15.
