The MP for Skeena Bulkley Valley is calling for increased rail safety again after another train derailed this morning in Quebec.
Nathan Cullen says they are working on making some changes but it seems to be chugging along very slowly.
“We are working on a bill right now that would notify communities when dangerous goods come through towns,” he says. “We already have some legislation in parliament that would greatly improve rail safety but the government is still dragging their feet after all of these accidents.”
The train derailed into a river after a possible mudslide. Several of the empty cars are submerged in the water. The conductor is currently missing.
