Bovill Square in Smithers has won a Brownie award.
Mayor Taylor Bachrach says its an honour to be recognized by the Canadian Urban Institute for the remediation work down to the site on Main Street.
“The Brownie Awards recognize Canadian communities that are leading the way in brown field reclamation,” he says. “Brown field sites are sites that have been contaminated by previous uses and they are a big problem, including here in northern B.C. “
This is the second national award that the square has won.
