Communities in the Bulkley Valley and Lakes District saw higher than average voter turn outs.
The provincial average for Saturday’s municipal elections was about 33%.
However, eligible voters in Telkwa beat that number by a landslide, 49.6% of voters cast a ballot.
Burns Lake also saw a big number of voters come out, 41% checked a box.
In Houston, 39.9% of voters made an appearance at the polls and Smithers saw 33.5%.
New Hazelton was the only place in the region that saw a smaller than average number of voters…….. at just 28%
