Warmer than normal summer predicted for Smithers and Bulkley Valley

It should be a long hot summer for northern BC according to Environment Canada.

Meteorologist Alyssa Charbonneau says the early predictions are promising.

“Our outlook for June, July and August is indicating a chance of warmer than normal temperatures for the summer, of course, we have to see how that really translates into our day-to-day weather but something to keep in mind as we move into the summer.”

Another blast of hot weather will be coming to Smithers as soon as this weekend.

“We’re looking at 25 or 26 degrees for the highs and we’ll see a nice stretch of warmer-than-normal temperatures and sunshine,” says Charbonneau.

The summer solstice takes place tonight at 9:24 pm.

It makes up for a wet spring where 99.3 millimeters of rain fell between March and May in the Bulkley Valley.
