Thieves targeting rural and town residents
The Smithers RCMP have noted an increase in property crime over the past couple of weeks.
Police are reminding both rural and town residents to lock their windows and doors when not at home.
Staff Sgt Kirsten Marshall says everyone should be aware of anyone who may be in the area walking or driving and acting in a suspicious manner.
This includes persons knocking on doors day or night that do not appear to have a legitimate purpose for doing so.
The public is encouraged to call police if they note anything out of the ordinary, any damage, theft or breaks in to their home or business.
