Public input open for Morice TSA

The Ministry of Forests Lands and Natural Resources is seeking public input on the annual allowable cut of the Morice Timber Supply Area.

Stewardship officer of the Nadina Resource District, Agathe Bernard says a discussion paper on the timber supply area is available on the ministry website.

“The public discussion paper talks about the timber supply review that is currently ongoing for the Morice TSA. And what that review is exploring is the different implications of different harvest levels and current forest management practices and requirements.”

Bernard says people have until June 20th to submit their comments in writing to the Ministry office in Burns Lake, in email or by phone.

Analysis shows the annual cut can remain at 2.1 million cubic meters per year for the next five years before being reduced to 1.6 million cubic meters.
