An evacuation alert has been rescinded for the rural area near the Naltesby Lake (Grizzly Lake) Fire, according to the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako.
The Prince Goerge Fire Centre reported the fire near the eastern border of the regional district to be 100% contained earlier today.
That brings the number of evacuation alerts in the regional district down to two.
The Sutherland Rd Fire north of Fort Fraser is now 80% contained and is mapped at nearly 1,600 hectares.
Yesterday, the fire was estimated to be at 1,800 hectares and 50% contained.
Fire Information Officer Amanda Reynolds says 10 additional firefighters are expected to arrive on scene Thursday.
“The objectives today are just continuing to make guard around the fire and especially wrapping the fire at the head.”
However, the Big Bend Creek fire near the southern border of the regional district is still zero per cent contained.
That fire is now mapped at 2,062 hectares and Reynolds expects 20 additional firefighters to join the fight sometime today.
A fourth fire in the Prince George Fire Centre boundary is now mapped at 1,347 hectares in the Cariboo Regional District on the Kluskus Forest Service Road near Tatelkuz Lake.
Reynolds says that blaze is now 30% contained.
Reynolds says crews have been working tremendously hard throughout the night to gain control of the fires.
She says a rise in the relative humidity is helping fire suppression efforts.
“That region received 5-10 mills overnight. There is a forecast for some more precipitation and some thundershowers. They are isolated, so we can’t pinpoint where they’ll fall.”
Any lighting that strikes in the area is expected to come with precipitation, explains Reynolds.
