The Telkwa Fire Department is ready to fight wildfires

The Telkwa fire Department is ready to answer the call to fight wildfires across the province.

Fire Chief Laurence Turney says their rescue 21 vehicle is prepped and ready to go.

“The vehicle we have is a four-wheel drive three-quarter tonne pickup truck. We’ve got a 75-gallon tank on the back with a bunch of forest fire fighting hose on the back for cleaning, or mopping up – or perimeter control even,” says Turney.

Turney says if they get the call, they’d be ready to hit the road in 24-48 hours

He says three or four of the 19 members would go to make sure things are taken care of here at home.
