The Smithers Library is once again offering up an incentive to help pay off late fees while helping out the community.
Library assistant Kathy Spiro says the annual food for fines event is going on.
“If someone has late charges for items that were turned in over due, instead of paying the fines on their account, they can pay for it with a donation of a non-perishable food item that will go to the Smithers Hamper program,” she says.
She adds there is no set amount of food needed to pay off a late fee.
People have until December 13th to take advantage of the event.
