To meet fire fighting needs across the province, a free fire suppression course in being offered in Burns Lake this week.
The College of New Caledonia(CNC) campus will be paying for the 14-hour course.
“There was a real urgency to building this course,” says Acting Director of Community & Continuing Education, Alison Anderson.
“One of CNC’s strengths is our ability to create relevant programs that meet our communities’ needs. Our strong partnerships with community agencies and instructors enabled us to work quickly and pull this together.”
CNC says the course is aimed at helping contractors meet the needs of the ministry when fire fighting duty calls.
Medics, heavy duty operators and reforestation crews are some of the possible students who may take the course.
Fire Avoidance and Entrapment will also be covered during the sessions
The dates of the burns lake course are Thursday and Friday from 9:00 am 5:00 pm this week.
There are no prerequisites to take the course and Students will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis
