A hot and dry August long-weekend in store for Smithers after a seasonal July

The scorching temperatures across northern BC are predicted to last into the August long-weekend.

Smithers could exceed the 30-degree mark on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday.

The warm spell should stick around for a while.

The average daily temperature in Smithers came in at 14.6, which is just shy of the normal monthly average of 15.2 degrees.

Smithers also saw 27.3 millimeters of rain during the month, that also fell well short of the monthly normal of 45.6.
