The Northwest Fire Centre is asking people to be careful when conducting yard burning this weekend.
Fire Information Officer, Sue Pearce says warm weather and winds are expected this weekend which dries out newly exposed grass and create a fire risk.
“We do respond to quite a few grass fires this time of year and it is an activity that people can participate in, it just needs to be done safely.”
Anyone conducting back yard burning this weekend should make sure to have the proper tools and plenty of water on hand and put the fire out immediately if the wind picks up.
