Northern Health announce a pair of new board members

Colleen Nyce is the new board chair of Northern Health.

She was appointed by the province on Friday after she served as interim chair replacing Dr Charles Jago.

One of her goals is to roll out the strategic plan that is already in motion. “I intend to be very supportive of the various initiatives in that plan such as person and family-centred care across the north and supporting integrated accessible health services,” said Nyce.

Nyce is looking forward to a successful partnership with newly named board member Frank Everitt.

“I am delighted about his appointment that’s for sure, I have spoken to him on the telephone and we both look forward to that occasion to meet soon and I think he’ll make a good addition to an already excellent and dedicated team.”

The board will also be keeping a close eye on the opioid crisis. “We’ve been looking at it for quite some time now ever since the crisis was decided. We have a team of very excellent people working in collaboration with the provincial authorities,” added Nyce.

She also wants to remain focused on the strength of Northern Health, which is the efforts of their staff and physicians.

In February of 2015, Nyce was first appointed as a director of the board and then assumed the role of a deputy last year.

Nyce recently retired from Rio Tinto Alcan after spending 14 years as their corporate affairs and community relations manager.
