The new ice arena in Smithers will be opening its doors this weekend for people to check it out.
Director of Recreation Andrew Hillaby says there will be a free public skate on Saturday from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
“Even if you don’t skate, you can come out and see how big and beautiful it is and check out the dressing rooms and the walking track area around the arena and enjoy some free hot chocolate,” he says. “And if you are a skater, we’ll have some free rentals for those that don’t have their own skates.”
Hillaby adds there has been very postive feedback so far from the public.
The arena will be open for regular use and rentals in January.
