Smithers RCMP is warning the public about an online scam after a senior citizen reported someone falsely representing themselves as Telus over the phone.
Police say the caller sought details to deal with some kind of apparent virus on the senior’s computer. The whole ordeal resulted in the caller asking the senior to pay a bill.
Luckily, the senior called the police instead of forking over the money.
The Police are encouraging everyone, including seniors, to remain vigilant in not falling victim to online scam artists.
