You might notice some Smoke on highway 16 around the areas of Houston, Topley and Burns Lake.
The BC Wildfire Service is slash burning from now until the spring to allow for reforestation next year.
The areas where pile burning is scheduled include:
* around the Heading Creek Forest Service Road, about 12 kilometres east of Houston
* around Maxan Lake, about 23 kilometres northwest of Burns Lake
* around the Bomberger Forest Service Road, about eight kilometres west of Endako
The aim of the burns is, of course, to also reduce the risk of future wildfires.
The Wildfire Service started the burns in the Nadina Fire Zone on Tuesday.
