Snowmobile triggers avalanche in Sinclair range

With at least one known snowmobile triggered avalanche in the area, the Smithers Snowmobile Association is warning sledders to use caution.
Safety director Brad Martin says earlier this week, they had a report of an avalanche in the Sinclair riding area.
“No one was hurt but it is heads up that the avalanche hazard is tricky up there,” he says. “So we’ve had one, we don’t want another one.”
Martin advises anyone going into the backcountry to take an avalanche safety course first and be prepared with the right equipment.
He also suggests checking out http://www.avalanche.ca/ for updated forecasts.
