Air quality improving in Smithers, according to report

A recent report from the BC Ministry of Environment shows that air quality has been steadily improving in Smithers.

A graph in the report shows a decrease in particulate levels in the air from 2013 to 2016.

“It’s pretty hard to tell what factors are involved, but the important part is that the line is heading in the right direction and we’re going to be doing a bunch of work in the coming year to make sure that that trend not only continues but accelerates,” says Mayor Taylor Bachrach.

The report also shows that Smithers is ranked the 5th worst in the Central Interior Zone for air quality.
