A two-kilometre eastbound passing lane has been completed near Tyhee Lake on Highway 16.
“Highway 16 is an essential corridor that supports economic growth in the region, and these sections of road experience high volumes of commercial transport trucks,” says Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Claire Trevena.
“This passing lane will alleviate traffic congestion, improve safety, and so be a better experience for both commercial and public drivers.”
This is part of a $6.5 million project, seeing improvements in the Bulkley View Rest Area and the George Frontage Road access to Highway 16.
The upgrades include new lighting, a new pit toilet, wheelchair access to picnic tables, and acceleration and deceleration lanes for safer access.
