Province reminds sledders of voluntary restricted areas

Back country enthusiasts are being reminded about the voluntary restrictions while snowmobiling or skiing in the Telkwa mountains.
The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations says this will help protect northern caribou populations.
If people see caribou, they are urged not to approach any animals, turn off sled engines and give them plenty of space.
The Telkwa caribou herd is estimated to currently have fewer than 20 animals.
The Province of B.C. says it is committed to aiding the herd’s recovery.
A map of the voluntary restricted areas for motorized use can be found by here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/bcgovphotos/16191782256/
