Logging truck parking causes rift in neighbourhood

The issue of parking logging trucks overnight in residential areas was a hot topic at last night’s council meeting.
A group of 12th Avenue residents brought complaints about where their neighbour parks his rig and the noise it generates to councillors last night.
The truck owner also spoke and mentioned he wasn’t aware of the formal complaints made to the town and said his logging truck is actually quieter than his pick up.
Town staff asked council for direction on the matter but Councillor Bill Goodacre made a motion to post pone any further discussion.
“We had both people, the people from the neighbourhood and that own the truck and they all had hard feelings about it,” he says. “And of course we had a report on it but that is new information and hearing directly from the people about how they feel, gives us something to think about.”
Council will discuss the noise and parking by-laws and whether or not they need to be changed at the next council meeting.
