NWAS warns of parvo outbreak in Moricetown

North West Animal Shelter is warning dog owners about a parvo outbreak in Moricetown.
Volunteer Heather Tuite says they have recently found a stray dog with the virus.
“We had a stray dog come through that had it and therefor was contagious,” she says. “So any of their fecal matter out there, and we understand this dog was roaming around Moricetown, could be contagious and parvo is a pretty big deal. It can stay alive for a quite a while in the environment.”
She says the best way to prevent the disease from spreading is to make sure dogs are vaccinated.
If the pet is showing early warning signs, such as loss of appetite, low energy, or drinking very little, consult a veterinarian right away.
