The ribbon has been cut on the Lakes District Hospital and Health Centre.
A ceremony and tours of the facility took place this morning with several politicians, first nations chiefsĀ and members of the public in attendance.
Health Minister Terry Lake says he is really impressed with the state of the art hospital.
“I was amazed,” he says. “The views are stunning, the building its self is so light and roomy. The facilities are absolutely the most modern of any hospital that I’ve seen and I’ve toured a lot of hospitals. For a community this size to have a facility like this is nothing short of amazing.”
The $55 million facility opened six months of ahead of schedule.
The hospital will be ready to take patients starting on February 4.
