The Moricetown Band has joined the First Nations Group Limited Partnership.
Fifteen other First Nations along Chevron’s Pacific Trail Pipeline route are already part of the partnership.
Moricetown also entered into a Pipeline Benefits Agreement with the province that will be lead to negotiations with TransCanada’s Coastal GasLink Project.
Chief Barry Nikal says the decision to enter these two LNG agreements came after a year of intense meetings and negotiations.
He adds the journey has been challenging for council and hard on the community.
However, he adds band members now have priority access to jobs, skills training and contracting opportunities.
