The annual Rick Schmidt torchlight parade on Hudson Bay Mountain is taking place tomorrow.
There will be a night time ride from the top of the hill down the Trail to Town, lit by torches to honour Schmidt and raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society.
One of the organizers, Frank McBride says this event has been going on a long time.
“We are carrying on that tradition,” he says. “When I started working here, Rick was the one organizing it here and then he succumbed to cancer so we re-named it after him. It was always his favourite event and when I came to town, it quickly become mine too.”
There is also a raffle to raise money. A day of skiing with rentals and lunch is up for grabs.
Tickets can be purchased at Canadian Tire, at the ski hill office in town or on the mountain.
