The MLA for Stikine has launched a mental wellness contest with Vancouver Canucks’ Dan Hamhuis.
Doug Donaldson says this is the fifth year in a row he’s doing an essay contest like this.
“It’s usually on a topic that is of concern to teens,” he says. “We talk to teens we know, high school people, the RCMP. This year the theme is Score One for Mental Wellness and we know anxiety, stress and depression are factors in many teen’s lives.”
The essay must be around 500 words and discuss mental health issues. The contest is open for those 13-18 years old.
The winner will be chosen by a panel of community judges and will receive airfare and two tickets to a Canucks game.
