MP calls for Ottawa to reverse decision on border crossing closures

As Ottawa plans to cut hours at the Stewart-Hyder border crossing, the MP for Skeena Bulkley Valley is advocating against the idea.
Nathan Cullen says this is a small yet vital crossing.
“Big frustrations with the Hyder-Stewart border closure,” he says. “We’ve had a lot of correspondence and phone calls from frustrated people on both sides of the border. Customs are looking to shut the border at night, every night and there are people that travel at night for work and other things.”
Cullen says the closures are due to budget cuts. He fears once hours are trimmed, they will continue to be. Cullen is calling on the federal government to reverse the decision.
