Fundraising efforts have begun for a Smithers family that are temporarily living in Vancouver for medical reasons.
Joe Lepage was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year.
Step-sister Tracey Andersen says they are hoping to raise $15,000.
“The reason being is that his prescriptions are about $1,700 a month,” she says. “And they can’t stay in Smithers because the treatment is in Vancouver. He’s in an outpatient program right now so he goes in for his chemo, gets two weeks off and goes back in for more chemo.”
Lepage’s wife, Kathy is in Vancouver with him and their son has moved back to Smithers to help with their house.
