Smithers man wins cash for committing to butt out for a week

A Smithers man has won some cash from the B.C. Lung Association after joining a campaign to quit smoking for a week.
Joey Utz was one of two men randomly selected out of 850 other men that signed up to win $2,500.
The campaign, that was done in partnership with Northern Health, challenged men to butt out for the first week of February.
Utz says it was frustrating at times but well worth it.
“I feel great,” he says. “I noticed a lot of health benefits right away after the first week. If I had any advice, stick with it through the first week and you’ll notice a big difference.”
He adds he hasn’t had a smoke since then.
