TransCanada has donated $250,000 to Northwest Community College.
School Spokesperson Sarah Zimmerman says some of this money will go to student bursaries.
“We’ll have $64,00 targeted for trades programs,” she says. “And the reminder of the money is for our Workforce Training & Continuing Studies courses so those are non credit courses for things like getting your WHMS or your confined space training or industrial first aid… things like that.”
The rest of the money will help to start a new graduated driver’s license training program. The first driver’s training courses will be offered in Moricetown this spring. TransCanada’s donation allows the first cohort to participate tuition-free.
