Burns Lake By-Election by the numbers

It’s hard to say whether or not this played a factor in the decision, but the numbers are out regarding the campaign funding efforts for the Burns Lake By-Election.

Under the Local Elections Campaign Funding Act, both Charlie Rensby and Bruce Martens were to release the amount they spent on their campaigning efforts.

Rensby accounted for $289.33, while Martens spent $145.31 on such things as advertising efforts.

Of the 98 Burns Lake voters, Rensby received 55 votes, winning him the vacant councilor position in January 2018.

Rensby replaced former councilor John Illes, who resigned in September 2017 after accepting a position with the Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako.
