Hospice society donates money to purchase a new piece of medical equipment

The Houston Hospice Society has helped get a bladder scanner for the Houston Health Centre.
Coordinator Linda Bush says this is helpful for people who are too ill or old to communicate or realize their bladder is full.
“Often people would be catheterized as a precaution,” she says. “This way we can tell for sure whether that is necessary or not and it is much less invasive. If it isn’t needed, it saves the patient a little bit of trauma.”
Bush says in order to buy medical equipment for Northern Health, they had to go through the Bulkley Valley Health Foundation — which she says worked out well.
She adds, anyone that wants to donate to the foundation can request the money stay in Houston.
