After tragedy struck on December 24th, 2017, it seemed as though all hope was lost for the Lake Babine Resort following a tragic fire.
“It was Christmas Eve and there was an explosion in the watershed,” says Babine Resort owner Trudy Hoff “everything was essentially destroyed, however, with help from our neighbors we were able to save three cabins, one of which was our own.”
Hoff says after the fire, the response from the community was overwhelming.
“We have guests that come back to our resort on an annual basis and even some who come every year since we opened in 1989. We had calls from Africa, Mexico, and all over the world to make sure we were alright. The support shown by the community is making me tear up again, there are no words to describe it.”
Hoff knew this tragedy couldn’t keep her down. She says hard work and determination has allowed them to stay on track for opening weekend on May long.
“We want to make sure everything is in proper order for our guests. The cabins are ready, now we must prepare the RV and tent sites. We are going to ensure our guests get the same level of quality they see every year.”
Hoff ensures us here at The Moose that the way of life at the Babine Lake Resort will not change. The coffee will still be hot and the crib boards will be ready.
