Transit Driver Appreciation Day

Today is Transit Appreciation Day.
The town of Smithers is celebrating by recognizing some of the drivers.
Mayor Taylor Bachrach says Mike Wyllie has been behind the wheel for 24 years now and also gives back to the community.
“What B.C. Transit Appreciation Day means for us in the Bulkley Valley this year is honouring Mike Wyllie for his long role in our local transit service,” he says. “As a former transit rider, I know Mike does an awesome job and he is really the face of the bus between here and Telkwa and around town.”
Bachrach says council met with BC Transit recently and they say Smithers transit numbers are on par or ahead with other comparable communities.
