Wynona Creyke and the Women’s BC team are off to a 2-0 start at the Aboriginal Hockey Championships in Membertou, Nova Scotia.
Creyke and her squad skated Sunday to start the tourney and handled New Brunswick in their opener 8-0.
Creyke would notch the second goal of the game 11:16 into the first and her team would not look back from there.
This mornings match-up was a little bit tighter.
BC skated against an Eastern Door and Northern Female team that pushed them to the brink, however, BC would skate away with a 4-3 win.
Creyke would end up with a pair of assists in the contest, one of which was on the game-winning goal scored by teammate Jade Ridgewell at 10:12 into the 3rd period.
The ladies have Tuesday off and continue tournament play Wednesday against the Northern Females at 8:15 Pacific.
The Aboriginal Championships are a showcasing of elite Indigenous Bantam and Midget hockey players from across the nation.
