Houston RCMP arrest Smithers Man

Following a brief investigation, Houston RCMP have arrested a 21-year-old from Smithers.

On Friday, May 4th, Houston RCMP were performing a vehicle stop near Highway 16 and the 7-Eleven convenience store.

During the stop, police noticed that the back passenger had multiple warrants out for his arrest.

When the officer tried to apprehend him, he fled from the vehicle on foot.

With the help of the police dog service, the suspect was located in an apartment building a couple blocks away, where he later surrendered himself.

He now faces the following charges:

  • Resisting arrest
  • Pointing a firearm x3
  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Obstructing a police officer
  • Failing to stop for police
  • Being unlawfully in a dwelling house
  • Failing to comply with conditions of release x 19
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x6

The 21-year-old will remain in custody until his future court proceedings.
