The National Ski Cross Championship has wrapped up in Smithers.
The Smithers Ski Club scrambled to host the event this week with only a couple of days notice after a lack of snow pushed the competition up from Prince George.
Hometown athlete Jason Oliemans was excited show off the mountain and was proud of how he did in the races.
“I thought I did well for myself,” he says. “It was a big field with a lot older and more experienced athletes than me. I didn’t finish at the top of the pack but I won some heats and moved on to the quarter finals in a bunch of races.”
This was the first time Hudson Bay Mountain hosted a national ski event.
