BC Men’s team takes Gold at National Aboriginal Hockey Championships.

The BC Men’s hockey team has claimed gold at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships in Membertou, Nova Scotia.

They were paired up with Saskatchewan in the gold medal game, which eventually led to a 6-5 BC win in overtime.

BC went 2-1-1 in the round robin before knocking off Manitoba 4-3 in the semi-finals.

The BC Women’s team wouldn’t fare as well.

Led by Smithers own Wynona Creyke, the team would go 3-0-1 in the round robin before losing 10-1 at the hands of Manitoba in the semi-finals.

Following the loss to Manitoba, BC would have a date with Saskatchewan in the bronze medal game.

Saskatchewan would end up skating away with a 4-3 overtime win.
