Smithers’ streets will soon be swept.
Mayor Taylor Bachrach says the town had to wait until the temperatures stayed above zero so the water they use to clean the roads doesn’t freeze.
“The bottom line is that our crews try to do it as soon possible in the season,” he says. “We know people are anxious so we try to get on it, its just managing around the temperature issue so we don’t create a bigger problem than the one we are trying to solve.”
Crews will start today and Bachrach hopes all the gravel and rocks will be cleaned up quickly.
