The two-day Northwest Food Security Forum is currently taking place at the Old Church in Smithers.
The focus of the event is to create a foundation for a food security plan in Northwest BC.
This event brings together people from all over Northwest BC who are already working for or are demanding more food security through improvements to policy, infrastructure, and public education
Food security authority Janine de la Salle gave a presentation this morning regarding a toolkit that can be used to build a food security plan for the region.
Other topics of conversation will include community economic development, climate change, the significance of traditional food systems, and indigenous food sovereignty.
