A winner has been chosen for a mental wellness contest with Vancouver Canucks’ Dan Hamhuis and the MLA for Stikine.
Hannah Trombley of Hazelton won by writing an essay on how her anxiety affects her.
Doug Donaldson hopes this brings awareness of mental health issues among youth.
“In the bigger picture, we know that Hannah has a supportive family,” he says. “But there are many other youth in Stikine and in other areas that lack support when they have to deal with mental wellness issues. The representative for children and youth said it well that those supports are lacking provincially.”
Trombley was chosen by a panel of community judges and will receive airfare and two tickets to a Canucks game.
