Fundraiser being held to help a family of domestic abuse start fresh

A fundraiser is being held tomorrow to help a woman and her three children get a fresh start after leaving an abusive home.
Alicia Baribeau says she just discovered her sister was in a bad relationship and wants to help her move to Smithers from Ontario.
“They’ve been leaving at a shelter for the last two months,” she says. “While they were there, the ex-husband destroyed the house and everything in it so they lost everything. He cleaned out the account and closed it, left them stranded with nothing. So she is moving here with her kids so I’m doing this to help her get set up.”
She adds the fundraiser isn’t just to raise money for her sister but also to raise awareness for others in abusive relationships that support is available.
The fundraiser will be held at the Pioneer Place from 6-9.
