Province gives Brucejack green light

Brucejack has been given the green light from the province, with a few strings attached.
An Environmental Assessment Certificate has been granted to Pretium Resources with 15 conditions.
The Ministry of Environment says the decision was made after considering a review led by British Columbia’s Environmental Assessment Office, which was conducted in a manner that is reflective of the treaty relationship between British Columbia and the local First Nation’s Government.
The company is proposing to develop a 2,700 tonne per day underground gold and silver mine.
The $450 million project would create 500 jobs during the two-year construction period and 300 jobs during a minimum 16 year operating life.
Federal approval is still needed.
Brucejack is located 65 km northwest of Stewart.
